“O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
(John 17: 25-26 ESV)
Dear Christian Friends,
These words from John 17 are Jesus praying to the Father. You can be certain that Jesus prayed for His disciples with regularity during His 3-year ministry. But this prayer happened just before Jesus’ arrest. His concern was clear – May they continue to believe in Him as the true connection with the “righteous Father.”
Further, Jesus prays that His disciples would be forever infected with the love of God in their hearts and in their lives.
It is our turn to be Jesus’ living disciples. We know God through His Son, Jesus. He is at the Father’s right hand and intercedes with the Father on our behalf. And the love of the Father as shown through His Son is now living in us.
He lives to bless me with His love;
He lives to plead for me above. (I Know that My Redeemer Lives, verse 3)

Looking Ahead………
Jenn Shack will be commissioned as Director of Parish Services at PoP this Sunday during the regular service. Jenn will serve on a part-time basis assisting us in the areas of children, youth, and young adults and families. Be sure to come out this Sunday in support of her and pray for this vital mission among us.
An Invitation from Jenn: The East District Lutheran Young Adults retreat May 24-26 in Barrie is for young adults ages 18-35, single or married, and is a great opportunity to meet other Christian young adults who are interested in knowing more about their faith. I will be attending for Friday and Saturday and am willing to take any young adults from Prince of Peace with me. J Call or email if you’d like to come. Costs are usually under $40 for the weekend. You can check us out at http://www.edlya.ca or on facebook (EDLYA). Sadly, we’re not very up-to-date, but retreats are always a good time!
Senior’s Pizza Lunch & Movie: Angel in my Pocket is a 1969 comedy film starring Andy Griffith. He plays The Reverend Samuel D. Whitehead, ex-Marine, bricklayer, and recent seminary graduate, who is ecstatic to receive his first “calling” or assignment as Pastor of his own church. But the Church of the Redeemer in Wood Falls, Kansas, will prove a challenging assignment and nearly his undoing. Just bring some change for your pizza. We begin at noon on Monday, May 13.
Confirmation Opportunities: A Parent/Confirmand Information Night was held last Monday and we have about 5 students enrolled so far. However there is still time over the summer to add more. If you know of a child going into Grade 6/7 this September and not involved in a Christian congregation, why not invite them to come to Prince of Peace for confirmation class? You can even forward information to me and I’ll contact the family.
Sign Up for a Visit from Pastor Walrath: There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board at the top of the stairs with times that Pastor is available to come visit. If you haven’t already met with Pastor, please pick a date. He is looking forward to meeting with you!

Blessed Lord, You have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning. Grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn, and take them to heart that, by the patience and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. (Collect for the Word, from the hymnal)
The Lord be with you.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Kevin Walrath
