“And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’”
(Revelation 21:5 ESV)
Dear Christian Friends,
Jesus gave His life upon a cruel cross of wood to secure this – “Making all things new.” How new? Forgiveness and new life! No more regrets over things you and I cannot undo. We also have the promise of a life eternal that will be so wonderful that it is beyond comprehension.
We are people of hope – living in forgiveness now, invited to enjoy God’s presence now through His Word and sacrament and in prayer; and living for it fully realized when Jesus comes again.
Coming Up this Sunday at Prince of Peace…
9:00 Sunday School & Adult Bible Class
10:30 Service of Prayer & Preaching
The Bible is for Everyone! Join us Sundays at 9:00a.m.!
- What does the Bible say about suffering? Does it have a redeeming purpose? That will be the topic this Sunday in the Adult Bible Class. Coffee will be on in the church basement at 9am. (Or, you are welcome to join the Sunday School opening in the sanctuary at 9:00 and come downstairs with me and grab a coffee as we begin the study in earnest.)
- The children in Sunday School will learn about the choosing of the seventy-two to go and tell others about Jesus. God chose the seventy-two to serve Him in a special task (Luke 10:1–24). God places us in various callings, giving us opportunities to serve Him and share our faith with others. As a family, talk about the various callings (vocations) each of you have and discuss the opportunities God gives you in these roles to share your faith. Who in your life needs to hear about the Saviour?
Looking Ahead………
The Ascension of Our Lord 40 days after Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended into heaven. This year the 40th day falls on Thursday, May 9. Let’s celebrate the event with a service at 7:00pm.
On Christ’s ascension I now build The hope of my ascension; This hope alone has always stilled All doubt and apprehension; For where the head is, there as well I know his members are to dwell When Christ will come and call them. (LSB 492)
Parent/Confirmand Information Night. On Monday April 29 from 7:15-8:15 pm Pastor will be holding an information night explaining the Confirmation program for next year and to discuss the day and time of classes. If you have a child going into Grade 6/7 this September, you are invited to attend.
Our confirmands will be answering questions as part of their confirmation weekend on Saturday morning (May 4) at 10:00. The hour-long “Examination” is open for you to attend. Pray for them as they give voice to what they have learned and its meaning for them.
