“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
(2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in Jesus’ name.
A message from Lutheran Church-Canada regarding Wednesday’s violence in Ottawa:
“This is truly tragic news,” said Lutheran Church–Canada President Robert Bugbee. “We thank God for the service of our police officers, who prevented the gunman in Parliament from doing greater harm. And we ask that God guide the authorities as they seek additional suspects.”
“I call on our churches around the nation to lift up the situation in Ottawa in prayer,” he continued. “May God grant courage to the people of Canada in this difficult time, and may the love of Christ be a source of comfort to us all.”
“If the threat of terrorism rears its head in Canada, we must turn to God in prayer,” said President Bugbee. “First, that He would grant our authorities wisdom in dealing with these threats. Second, that our people would share the comfort of Christ with their neighbours around them. And third, that God would work in the hearts of those who would commit violence, that they would turn from their evil ways to find the God of mercy, Jesus Christ.”
“We ought also to pray for Christians in Iraq and Syria,” he continued, “as well as other places, who face deadly persecution for the faith on a daily basis. May the Holy Spirit be with them, to give them courage and comfort through Christ our Lord.”
Indeed, we need to look to God in prayer for our wellbeing and that of our country and people everywhere. Lord, have mercy.

The Sundays October 19 through November 2 are organized around the theme, “God’s Supply – Our Trust.” Hudson Taylor spent 51 years in China as missionary during the 1800s. Being an early missionary to China, Taylor worked under the most challenging of circumstances. Yet he was able to believe and say, “God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.” That is true still – for your home, for your local congregation here at Prince of Peace, and for our entire synod. It is an encouraging message!
Consecration Sunday & Luncheon is set for November 9. Sign up to attend this luncheon celebration that concludes our Free & Joyous Response emphasis. The meal will feature sausage and sauerkraut and all the fixings.
You didn’t hand in an Attendance Commitment Form? Just come to stuff! People grow in faith when they attend to God’s Word. That is what Free & Joyous Response is all about. So don’t be shy! We’ll see you in church and in Bible study!
