“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”
(John 14:6 ESV)
Dear Christian Friends,
Sometimes we read the Bible too fast. In church the words often fly by us. And especially with all the other words and noise in the world, the Word of the Lord hardly has a chance to be heard and taken to heart.
So stop reading my words for a moment and reread what Jesus said in the red letters above. Read them slowly and with deliberation. (Go ahead! I’ll wait. J )
Wow! Jesus certainly would not agree with folks today who claim that all religions lead to the same place. Oh really! Did Mohammed or Buddha or anyone else die to effectively take away the sin of all people including yours and mine? Indeed, Jesus is unique! – Uniquely God and man at the same time, uniquely loving in that He would suffer in our stead. Amazing. Jesus truly is the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him!
And if someone to whom you are speaking just can’t swallow that bit of truth, then be sure you both know that he/she is not really arguing with you – rather they are actually arguing with Jesus. At that point, just pray that the Spirit of God would work to create faith in the heart of that individual.
As for you, rejoice that you know the name and Person and work of Jesus. You have forgiveness and life in His name. He is with you to guide and bless you even now. Thanks be to God!
