And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
(Acts 2:21 ESV)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in Jesus’ name.
The above verse has “come to pass.” Jesus died and rose again. Now the Holy Spirit impresses upon people the terribleness of sin and wonderfulness of God’s forgiveness in Christ. Now is the time of the New Testament Church! It is a great time to be alive. But the time is short. We have no idea (contrary to those who claim to know the date of God’s Judgment) when the opportunity to share the Gospel will cease as Jesus comes again to gather His Church to Himself. Now is the time to repent, to call upon the Lord, to support one another in the Christian faith, and to share the Good News.
We do not do any of the above alone. Last Sunday was the Day of Pentecost when we celebrated God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church and into the hearts of His people.
O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Collect for The Day of Pentecost)

Last Sunday’s Service & BBQ was a wonderful day! We were 82 strong, worshipping outside and enjoying delicious pork tenderloins and sliders along with a wide array of salads and desserts brought by many. “Beebop” came to entertain the children (and adults) with balloon sculpting, face painting, illusions and storytelling. Thanks go to Brad, the chief organizer and chef, and many others who assisted with set up, clean up, and our musicians who led the matins – all making the event a joy.
Vacation Bible Weekend! July 12-13. Something new! – instead of a week-long VBS we will do it all on a weekend. Saturday, July 12, will be a full day running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Sunday we are inviting our VBW families to join us for worship. The children will share songs they have learned and we will have a BBQ following. Plan now to invite children ages pre-school through Grade 6 in your family and neighbourhood to our first-ever Vacation Bible Weekend! “Gangway to Galilee” follows a nautical theme, just right for us here in Burlington! Most of all, after the craft glue dries and the snacks are gone, the treasure remains that children leave knowing their need for a Saviour and that His name is Jesus.

Creation Ministries International. Since our text for this Sunday’s sermon is Genesis 1, I thought I would reference this organization and their website, Click here . Their role is to support the church in proclaiming the truth of the Bible and thus its Gospel message. They provide real-world answers to the most-asked questions in the vital area of creation/evolution, where the Bible is most under attack today—Genesis.

President Bugbee reacts to reelection. Editor’s note – President Robert Bugbee gave the following address on Sunday, following his reelection on Saturday:
“I remember six years ago when I was first elected to this task that my very gracious predecessor gave me two days to think about what it all meant before he asked me to come forward on the Sunday afternoon of the Convention and to deliver a more thought-out response to the delegates. We shouldn’t be silly about these things. We all realize that re-election to a third term does not carry with it … READ MORE…
Convention Essay: The background and role of the diaconate. VANCOUVER – On Sunday, Deacon Jennifer Shack presented an essay outlining the history and biblical foundation of the diaconate in Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC), and the role of its members in our church body today. In part one of her presentation, Deacon Shack reviewed how the position of deacon was established in LCC, beginning with a Task Force struck in 1993 to study the role of congregational workers (a role that had been in existence since the 1950s). The official diaconate of Lutheran Church–Canada was established in 1999. Church work training programs … READ MORE…
