Worship at PoP This Sunday

Our Christian education hour will start at 9AM and Sunday worship will begin at 10:30AM.

What to Expect as we Worship in the Sanctuary

What to expect on the day:

• Halton region restrictions indicate that congregations are not to sing (subject to change based on public health requirements/recommendations)
• Printed orders of service.  Take these with you when you leave.
• No use of the coat room – please keep your coats with you

Those participating are asked to remember the following:

• Do not come to church if you are feeling ill;  you will be asked to verify your health status before entering the church building
• You will need to wear a mask – please bring your own.  We will have a small supply, should you forget
• Enter and exit through the front doors
• Refrain from socializing while inside the building.
• Please be patient with ushers, greeters and others who are assisting.  We are all learning new ways of doing things.
• Maintain 6′ separation from others at all times

We understand completely if you are not yet feeling ready to attend service.  This is not to pressure, but to provide awareness and an invitation to those who are ready and able to attend.

Longest Night Service

For many of us Christmas is not exactly a joyous or happy time of year, it can be a time of struggle and darkness as we mourn the loss of loved ones. The Longest Night service is a service of Hope, Comfort, and Light amid the darkness which may be experienced at this time of year. We take this time to take seriously the reality of loss and grief at a time of year when we miss our loved ones. The service will be held on Monday, December 21 at 7:00 pm. Social distanced seating is available in the Sanctuary. Please phone/email the office to reserve a place. The Longest Night service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.

Christmas Services:

We welcome everyone to join us for these special services, however, it is necessary to call the church in advance and register* your desired attendance as we have a limited capacity. This will be especially important for our Christmas Eve services.

“God With Us” Advent Devotions: What better news is there than to know that God is always by our side! At Christmastime we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Lord of the universe, Saviour of the world, Shepherd of our lives. Sharing Advent devotions can be a way to reach out to family and friends who do not know the Saviour or celebrate Christmas. Men Street Ministry is in need of your help as the homeless in Hamilton have been forced out of their encampments and their belongings have been disposed of. Most needed items are winter coats, socks, boots, blankets, hats, gloves, scarfs, sleeping bags, as well as food items: peanut butter, cans of tuna, soup fixings, toiletries and towels. PRINCE OF PEACE IS NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS DUE TO COVID.  The Ministry has a drop-off location in Waterdown:  22 Spring Creek Drive, Unit 70, Waterdown. Just leave on their doorstep.  Thank you

Halton Women’s Place typically operates a Holiday Hamper Program to sponsor families who they have helped at the shelter in the past year but this year will be collecting gift cards instead of items. Gifts cards will allow women to purchase their own items and gifts for their children. .  If you would like to contribute, gift cards can be dropped off at PoP – see our December calendar for days and times.

Gifts from the Heart: CLWR is working with people around the world to determine what they need to be self-sufficient. Your gifts are a critical part of empowering them to live in justice, peace and dignity. Team Zion Nicaragua: Due to travel restrictions and overall safety precautions raised as a result of the Global pandemic, Team Zion is unable to go to Nicaragua in January 2021. With no travel, no tourism, airports and borders closed, tens of thousands of Nicaraguan people are out of work. The country has been reeling from the political unrest in 2018 and did not have time to recover before Covid-19 hit.  Donations made out to Team Zion can be given to Prince of Peace, or sent c/o Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St. Waterloo, Ontario. N2L 1B8.

In your prayers, please remember those in mourning, those being treated for cancer, those recovering from surgery, those who have tested positive with COVID-19, our elderly and shut-in friends, all those under doctor’s care, and all those separated from family due to the COVID-19 restrictions, our Vicar-elect David Zakel, our Vacancy Pastor Robert Krestick, and Rev. James Schnarr. Restore Canada and the world in health and livelihood, and preserve us from pestilence and fear.
