“Let brotherly love continue.
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers,
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them,
and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled,
for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have,
for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’
So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”
(Hebrews 13:1–6 ESV)
Dear Christian Friends,
After the writer to the Hebrews describes the Christian journey as a walk of faith (see Hebrews 11-12), he goes on to apply this Christian faith in God’s gracious promises for relating with other people.
What else shall I say? The words above are wonderful for us all to apply in our relationships with one another here at Prince of Peace.
Indeed, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”

Back-To-Church Sunday! Who will you invite to church on September 15. It will be an effort involving you! Think for a minute of someone – a relative who is not involved in a Christian congregation, a PoP member and old friend you haven’t seen in church for a while, a neighbor you’ve met, a co-worker going through a difficult time – you get what I mean. If you have been praying about it – Good! Now it’s time to invite.
Send an online email invitation to your friends by clicking here. (Be sure to delete the sample ‘personal message’ and fill in with your own message.) Maybe edit to your liking the following:
You are invited to my church on (Sunday September 15th at 10:30am). I think you will enjoy this special service with a casual refreshment time following. Call me!
Try sending an email to yourself for you to see? There is also an interesting little eBook available for free to your invitee entitled reDiscover Church (which you can read yourself here).
On the lighter side, here’s a video called “Pastor Rap” urging one and all to invite folks to church on September 15. Click here .
During the Sunday School hour:
- “Echo the Story” is a Sunday morning class for confirmands & youth beginning next Sunday at 9:00 a.m. What is Echo the Story? It is an imaginative way to engage in the Bible using storytelling, creative reflection, and dialogue. This approach helps participants discover meaning in the biblical account.
- “Knowing Right from Wrong.” What is happening to society? How shall we live? Plan to attend the Adult Bible Class where we will take a new look at the 10 Commandments. Coffee will be on.
Bible Reading: On September 9, 2012 we began the Two-Year Bible Journey with over 20 people! The reading plan guides you through the Bible in two years. So go for it! May God bless your study of His Word.

We begin at 9:30 am and finish by 10:45 a.m. starting September 3.

“It’s Like Me” A couple of Sundays ago I quoted a song by the Christian rock band Kutless. The words speak of our struggle to recognize opportunities to share the Good News of forgiveness in Jesus. “It’s Like Me” Kutless.
My conversation is leading nowhere,
And we talk of God but still I don’t share.
So many times that I just never saw the chance.
It’s like me to never see – When it came – when it went – Now it’s gone away. …
The phone rings with news that he’s gone.
Just the time I shared, my heart was prepared, and another soul was won.
So much truth to tell, I am so glad I saw the chance
It’s like me to never see – When it came – when it went – Now it’s gone away. …
Sometimes I still never see when perfect opportunities come my way.
Would my care increase if I truly believed that a life could be saved?
It’s like me to never see – When it came – when it went – Now it’s gone away.
