3“O my people, what have I done to you?
How have I wearied you? Answer me!
4For I brought you up from the land of Egypt
and redeemed you from the house of slavery,
and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.”
(Micah 6:3-4 ESV)
Dear Christian Friends,
When you read verse 3 above it sounds similar to one spouse appealing to the other, or a parent inquiring of her child. “What have I done against you? I have provided for you in a loving manner. Why do you turn away from me?”
God inquires of His people of old the same way: “For I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery.” The Exodus led by Moses should have been eternal proof of the Lord’s love and care for His people. How could they later forget about Him and even indulge in the practices of other religions?
This same compassionate God pleads with His Church today: “For I sent My Son to sacrifice Himself to redeem you from your sin. In Christ, you are now My holy people.” Yet people take Jesus for granted. We act like we’ve got nothing wrong to confess, no need to pray, or we’re just fine without the Holy Supper of Christ’s body and blood. It’s all nice to know about just in the event of an emergency.
“O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!” Though spoken through the prophet Micah 2,600 years ago, the Lord could speak to the people of the world today. It sounds like a call to repent – but in love. Jesus, who redeemed us from sin, still calls to us, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)

Coming Up …
Take Your Honey on a Valentine’s Date to Prince of Peace! The fellowship committee invites the couples of PoP and friends of PoP (singles are welcome too!) to a Valentine’s Day event, Friday, February 14, at 7:00pm. Entertainment will be, “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage: The Tale of Two Brains.” It’s a you-tube video about the differences between men & women and their effects on marriage.
Therefore, here’s the menu: lasagna, salad and Texas garlic bread. We will serve the meal at an incredible price of $15.00/couple ($7.50/person). What a deal!
And it will be fun! But we need to know that you are attending. Email the office or sign up in the lobby this Sunday.
Finally, women are banned from the kitchen for this event. The guys will serve and cleanup. (We don’t even need to be shown where things are. We’ll find it or make do! Now this you gotta see!)
Other News …
Share a ride! The fellowship committee of Prince of Peace has a concern that we should all share. There are members who have difficulty getting out to services because of transportation needs. They either come less frequently or else take a taxi to church. The committee suggests we gather a list of those needing transportation and a list of those willing to assist by offering a ride. We have yet to set up a system, but we ask that you begin to think about this idea.
