“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant.”
(Hebrews 12:22-24 ESV)
Dear Friends,
Christian greetings!
As we prepare to celebrate All Saints Day, consider the words of the great hymn, “For All the Saints.”
For all the saints who from their labors rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Oh, may Thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old
And win with them the victor’s crown of gold!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Oh, blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
But, lo, there breaks a yet more glorious day:
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of Glory passes on His way.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

The Lord be with you!

PoP News …
This Sunday we remember this All Saints’ Day weekend our departed family and friends who have gone before us in faith to meet the Lord.
Church-wide Discussions: God granted us a wonderful session last Sunday with about 50 people attending to see and discuss a proposed plan for restructuring the Synod. Prince of Peace hosted the Circuit Convocation with Pastors Paul Schallhorn and William Ney, both of the LCC Commission on Constitutional Matters & Structure (CCMS) facilitating and taking notes. We thank God for the happy and willing service of those who providing a wonderful sauerkraut and sausage dinner.
Operation Christmas Child: our Joyful Seniors are challenging everyone to participate in packing shoeboxes that will be shipped to children around the world in unfortunate circumstances. Please return boxes before Sunday, November 13 and include $7/box to cover shipping costs. If you cannot fill a shoebox on your own, there is a larger box in the lobby for any items that you can donate.
The Joyful Seniors would appreciate your help on Wednesday, November 9 at 1:00 to finish packing the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. After the work is done, then there will be a fun time playing games such as dominos, cards, etc.
Christmas Bazaar: Items needed! The Ladies Guild will be holding a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 3 and are looking for donations of anything ‘Christmassy’ to add to the collection. However, any items suitable for sale are welcomed too. They can be left by the cupboard area in the basement. Bake sale items will be welcomed closer to the sale day.
Haiti Lutheran Mission Society Hurricane Relief: Due to the devastation of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, the Lutheran Church of Haiti is shifting food and goods from areas not as badly affected to help people in desperate need. Millions of people live in the affected areas. HURRICANE RELIEF donations are greatly appreciated. See the poster on the bulletin board to learn how you can help.
It’s that time again! Outside Fall Clean Up date is scheduled for Saturday November 12 (rain date Nov. 19). Bring rakes, gloves, pruning shears, bags, a smile and willingness to exercise the body and the mind.
Fall Convocation on Medically Assisted Death: The Niagara Circuit is hosting a convocation on Medically Assisted Death on Sunday, November 13, from 2:30 to 5:00 pm at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 400 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines. Harold Albrecht, MP for Kitchener-Conestoga, will be speaking on the political ramifications of medically assisted death here in Canada. The Rev. Michael Salemink, Executive Director of Lutherans for Life (USA) will address the issue from a pastoral and theological perspective. Following the convocation, an optional catered banquet will be held at Resurrection’s social hall. Pastor Salemink will speak on the topic of “Implementing a Pro-Life Theology in Our Congregations”. The cost is $15. Tickets must be ordered in advance. Please contact Church: 905-468-2611, or email: trinitynotl@cogeco.ca).
Lutheran Church-Canada Change in LSO Status for Lutherwood: “As outlined in the Lutheran Church-Canada Handbook, in having its Lutheran Service Organization (LSO) Status removed – Lutherwood has lost the privilege of soliciting funds from our East District and Lutheran Church-Canada congregations. We do treasure the relationship that Lutherwood has had with our East District of Lutheran Church-Canada in the past, and like Lutheran Church-Canada would always be willing to have that relationship restored, if and when Lutherwood would decide to continue in the direction of keeping within the public teaching and practice of Lutheran Church-Canada.”
Being Lutheran:
Being Lutheran: The fall emphasis continues with this Sunday’s theme being “Ordinary” based on chapter 7.
Copies of the book Being Lutheran are still available in the office.
