If I say, “I will not mention him,
or speak any more in his name,”
there is in my heart as it were a burning fire
shut up in my bones,
and I am weary with holding it in,
and I cannot.
(Jeremiah 20:9 ESV)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in Jesus’ name.
We should pray to be more like Jeremiah. He was often up against it for speaking God’s truth. People don’t like to hear that the Lord would hold anyone accountable for their sin. But there was Jeremiah, speaking as the Lord gave Him the words.
In our day, we have a rule that says, “Thou shalt not speak anything that is politically incorrect.” And there are many truths in the Bible that are not politically correct.
Unfortunately, we have become skilled at not mentioning God or speaking anything in His name. His Word of Law and of love have become “shut up in (our) bones.”
Would that the Lord would cause us to conclude, “There is in my heart a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.”
Maybe we need to get back to basics. I can’t force you to love God and tell others about Him. I can only show you what the Lord has done for you. He sent His Son to be a substitute, a sacrifice for your damnable sin and thereby took it away. It cost Jesus His life, which He gave freely out of love for you.
When the Holy Spirit gets a hold of you with that message suddenly it is not so easy to be quiet. You become anxious to share that good news with others. Maybe it will come out of you in the form of inviting children to VBS. (Hint! Hint!) J

News …
Vacation Bible Weekend! July 12-13. Something new! – instead of a week-long VBS we will do it all on a weekend. Saturday, July 12, will be a full day running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Sunday we are inviting our VBW families to join us for worship. The children will share songs they have learned and we will have a BBQ following. Plan now to invite children ages pre-school through Grade 6 in your family and neighbourhood to our first-ever Vacation Bible Weekend! “Gangway to Galilee” follows a nautical theme, just right for us here in Burlington! Most of all, after the craft glue dries and the snacks are gone, the treasure remains that children leave knowing their need for a Saviour and that His name is Jesus.
VBS Decorating: We are having a brain-storming session specifically for decorating the church for VBS. The meeting will be at the church on Tuesday, June 24 at 6:30 pm. Please join us!
Can you help? We need 5’ long wooden stakes. If you can supply these please let us know.
