“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him.”
– Matthew 2:10-11 ESV
Dear Children of the Light,
Happy Epiphany season!
January 6 is celebrated by Christians as the Epiphany Of Our Lord. The word “epiphany” is Greek for “revealing of something previously hidden”. Specifically, Epiphany recalls the visit of the Magi (Wise Men-Astrologers) who followed the leading of a star to come and worship Jesus, the Newborn King (Matthew 2:1-12). They were the first “Gentiles” (non-Jews) to recognize Him as the Son of God who had come to be the Saviour of the world by offering His own life-blood as the payment for our sins. As St. Paul writes in Ephesians 3:6 – “This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel.” The mission of your church, the mission of your Christian life – is to share this Gospel.

PoP Town Hall Meeting: We need to talk and share ideas! With the annual meeting being so full of business, I am left with a hunger for us to talk about our health and work moving forward. Please join me for a short discussion after church on January 24. Planning is still taking place, but I am thinking that we either keep it short while featuring a coffee hour with refreshments or perhaps order in pizza. The main feature is discussion and not food. Please save the date and stay tuned for more information.
Creation Ministries International will visit Pilgrim Lutheran Church on February 2, 2016 at 7pm. The public school system, including grade school, high school, college and university, undermine the Christian teaching. This is your opportunity as parents and grandparents to be better equipped so you can intelligently reinforce biblical teaching with your children and grandchildren, and even strengthen your own faith. Calvin Smith is the speaker. His topic “GENESIS: THE MISSING PIECE OF THE PUZZLE.” Materials on many relevant and related topics will be available for sale afterwards. Put the date on your calendar right now so that you don’t miss this event.
