Vacancy Pastor, Rev. Robert Krestick, continues to lead us each Sunday in Bible Study and Worship. Rev. James Schnarr is teaching confirmation and visiting shut-ins. We appreciate and thank them for offering to help us out during this vacancy. If you should have any Pastoral needs during our vacancy, please contact one of our elders. They will address your concerns to the appropriate Pastor.
Ash Wednesday is on March 6 – The service of communion and the imposition of ashes will begin at 7:00 pm. We will be having a potluck soup supper beginning at 5:30 pm for all who would enjoy a time of fellowship before the Lenten service. Come and participate together. A signup sheet for the potluck can be found in the narthex.
Lenten Season There will be no mid-week Lenten services at POP this year. We encourage members to consider attending Lenten services at our sister congregations of Pilgrim in Hamilton, Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm, Christ our King in Mississauga, Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm. The dual parish of Our Saviour in Grimsby and Redeemer in Hamilton will also have services on a weekly rotating basis beginning with Ash Wednesday service at Our Saviour, also at 7:00 pm.
Men’s Street Ministry meets face-to-face with the homeless and less fortunate in downtown Hamilton, distributing soup, sandwiches, snacks, beverages and clothing to those in need, and showing God’s love to those they meet along the way. They need donations of Clothing: hoodies, coats, sweatpants, socks, underwear, belts, running shoes, boots, and rain gear. Bedding: sleeping bags, blankets. A box will be in the coat room for your kind donations. Bath towels and face cloths are needed at this time.
Pastor Call Notes Our Divine Call documents have been forwarded to Pastor Dunlop who is the parish Pastor for Faith Lutheran Church in Desboro. Pastor Dunlop has informed his congregation of this new Call. As he contemplates and prays over this Call, please keep him and Faith congregation members in your prayers. Also pray for patience as we await his decision in this regard.
Seminary Food Drive – Twice a year Prince of Peace members support the Seminary students by filling their Food Pantry. All donations are appreciated. A collection bin can be found at the top of the stairs at the back entrance to the church.
Thank you from Samaritan’s Purse. Do you remember filling out all of those Christmas boxes last November/December? We received a letter from Samaritan’s Purse, thanking us for partnering with them last Fall with our contribution to Operation Christmas Child. Our support was greatly appreciated. They were honored to serve as a link between us and the needs in the developing world.
Save the date – On Saturday, May 25th, the youth will be hosting another Spaghetti Dinner and Baked Goods Auction. This will be the final fundraiser before they head off to BC for the National Youth Gathering in July. More details will come as we get closer to the event.
In your prayers, please remember all of our elderly and shut-in friends and family as they contend with the challenges of poor health.
