CHRIST IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD – ALLELUIA

Verse of the Week
Jesus said “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33b
Dear Lord Jesus, you have told us that You have overcome the world. We now pray that if it is Your will that You would help us overcome the tribulation we currently face with this Covid-19 pandemic. Keep our faith secure in the knowledge that You will overcome this pandemic in Your good time. Amen

When you go to www.lhm.org you will find many different Christian resources to feed your desire to bring life in Christ closer to you. There you will find devotions, sermons and Bible Studies for individual Christian growth. Take advantage of these resources while we do not have the ability to worship together.
If you go to https://www1.cph.org/portals/portals-of-prayer-app.aspx, you can purchase an annual digital version of Portals of Prayer for $10 or $18 for two years. Unfortunately, this digital version does not provide the daily and special day prayers found at the end of the paper version. If you would like to get a hard copy of Portals of Prayer you may call the office and we will arrange to get you a copy.
Divine Call Information On Sunday January 26, 2020, PoP voters elected to call a graduating Candidate from one of the Lutheran Seminaries. The process is in the hands of LCC leaders who decide where candidates receive their first call. A special Voters Meeting was called on Thursday April 16th via video conferencing to discuss this Call. We learned at the voters assembly that there are eight candidates who will receive their first placements in May. Unfortunately, there are 14 congregations calling a candidate. Therefore it is possible that Prince of Peace will not be assigned a candidate and we must be prepared for a disappointment in this connection. Pastor Krestick did indicate that he is prepared to extend his Vacancy Call with Prince of Peace until the Spring of 2021 or until a permanent Pastor has been established at Prince of Peace, which ever comes first.
Prince of Peace Update Amid this current crisis which is affecting the lives of everyone, your church council continues to monitor and provide resources that help our Christian members and friends maintain a relationship with Jesus. The council will continue to meet weekly via Zoom. Some of the issues discussed:
Pastor Krestick continues to provide his Sunday morning sermons from his home. The Sunday morning service on YouTube is enhanced weekly.
Pastor Schnarr continues to provide confirmation instruction on Mondays to our two confirmation students.
Bible class on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am continues. Access is available via telephone to those without internet accessibility. Over 24 people joined in the discussion last Sunday Please join us: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/101072564?pwd=dy9hRE9hVEl5SnkzbDZ6ZlZpYkladz09
Seniors/Shut-ins: It was noted that the elders are in continuous contact with our seniors who cannot get out on there own.
Hymnals: With the Sunday service on-line, you may wish to follow along with the Lutheran Service Book (Hymnal). If you would like to borrow a hymnal we will arrange to get it to you. Call or email the office 905-332-7671, popburl@bellnet.ca.
Financial Issues: The church expenses continue through this pandemic. The support of congregation members is necessary. There are ways that will allow you to continue supporting your congregation. The following options are available to you:
– “Supporting my Home Congregation in Difficult Times” through the LCC website
– Electronic Fund Transfer Authorization
– Personal Cheque
If you need assistance with these options please contact the office. We made a bank deposit on April 27 of cheques from members who provided an offering over the last few weeks.
Can you help?
The Busy Bees are looking at a project of making non-surgical cloth face masks. They would not meet the necessary standards to be used in the hospitals but these masks would provide a critical role of stopping the spread in our community.
We are looking for people who can sew. (a pattern is available), donations of cotton fabrics, fabric elastic bands, white thread, or any financial assistance for materials you might offer. As we cannot yet meet as a group in church, the work would be done by individuals at home. Please contact the office if you can help. We will be assessing the response we receive to this note over the next few days. Thank you for your time and consideration. The Busy Bees
Men’s Street Ministry Due to the shelters shutting down their kitchens, Roger is going to the streets daily delivering 100 bag lunches daily. If anyone is interested in helping make these bagged lunches please contact the office.
In your prayers, please remember those being treated for cancer, our elderly and shut-in friends, those in mourning, those who have tested positive with Covid-19, and all those separated from family due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
