Please Note:

The Ash Wednesday Service (March 2nd), will be held at 7:00 PM.

While the province has moved into the next phase of its reopening plan (you can read it here), we continue to gather together as we have been instructed to by our Lord.  Please continue to be mindful of the masking requirements still in effect. In Christian love for one another, we do ask that if you are sick or experiencing symptoms (or someone in your household is) that you stay home and join the service remotely, please let pastor know so he can pray for you and with you.

During Holy Communion, members of the same family “bubble” (i.e. Husband and Wife; Parents and Children) may approach (in pilgrim style, as we have been doing) and receive Holy Communion together. We look forward to the day when we can once again kneel at the Communion rail to receive the Lord’s holy and precious body and blood, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins. May Almighty God be merciful to us, and strengthen our faith.

For those unable to attend in person, who desire Holy Absolution and the Lord’s Supper, Pastor Zakel is available by appointment.

You might consider looking ahead to the propers, or readings for this coming Sunday March 6th, they are: Deuteronomy 26:1-11, Romans 10:8b-13, Luke 4:1-13 and Psalm 91:1-13. The Hymn of the Day will be LSB #657 “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”

Ash Wednesday

Join us on March 2nd at 7:00PM for the service of Corporate Confession and Absolution, the imposition of ashes, and Holy Communion. This service begins the season of Lent as we prepare for the celebration of our Lord’s death and resurrection.

Christian Education Hour:

Join us  for Christian Education Hour, Sundays @ 9:00AM in the Sanctuary. 

The Sermon on the Mount is the topic for this coming Sunday’s lesson, “Mountain Message.” Jesus reminds His listeners not to worry about things they cannot control. The birds of the air and the flowers of the field serve as examples of God’s continuing care for His creation. Likewise, we have no need for worry or anxiousness, because God provides and cares for us.

PoP Painting Bee

Join us Saturday morning, March 5th at 9:00AM to help the trustees paint the walls in the Sanctuary. Paint, rollers & brushes will be provided. Many hands make light work!

Seminary Food Drive:

We are collecting food donations for the Seminary once again this year.  Our red bin is located in the foyer.  As most of this year’s seminary students are single they would appreciate some prepared and/or easy to prepare meals such as hamburgers, hot dogs, big cans of soup, frozen dinners, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, cheese whiz, peanut butter, crackers, bread, butter, etc. (the Seminary has a large freezer.) They thank you for all your support!

Inspire Hope Project

Project completed…Yahoo! Thank you to all who joined in making flowers for Halton Alive’s “Inspire Hope” project for those in Long Term Care & Retirement homes. We made a total of 134 flowers! To God be the Glory

Calling all young adults!

EDLYA is hosting their first in-person retreat in over two years! East District Lutheran Young Adults (18-35 year olds) are gathering in person on Saturday March 5th at First St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wellesley. A guest speaker will be speaking about Sharing Your Faith and how you are more equipped to do so than you might think. Due to COVID considerations, the event will be a day event, 11AM to 7PM, with the speaker making his presentation at 2PM over zoom. For information, and to register, see edlya.ca.

The 2022 National Youth Gathering

The NYG will be in Winnipeg from July 15-19, and registration is available until April 15, 2022. The theme is “In Not Of,” based on Philippians 3:20. If you are in grades 7 to 12 in June 2022, please plan to join us! As well, anyone who has been out of high school for a period of one year prior to the NYG is able to volunteer as an iBod. LCC Youth Assemble! 

If you’re planning to attend the National Youth Gathering this summer in Winnipeg and want the opportunity to meet other youth from across Canada BEFORE the NYG, we have an event for you! This is the gathering before the Gathering! Meet us on Zoom on Friday, March 4, from 9:00-10:30PM (EST), where we’ll have two 30-minute interactive sessions with other youth groups, so that when we arrive in Winnipeg, we’ll know a few more people and can build on relationships that have started online! You’ll get to meet, greet, ask questions, and maybe even play games with brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the country. Register your group via this form by February 28 and we’ll send you the Zoom link. And if your time zone only allows for you to participate in one interactive session, we’d still love for you to join us!

LWMLC Ontario District Convention

All the ladies of the Ontario District are invited to attend the upcoming Ontario District LWMLC Convention,  June 9th to 11th at Grace Lutheran Church in St. Catharines. We will be conducting Bible Studies, selecting Mission Projects and enjoying fellowship with each other. Due to restructuring, this will be the last Ontario District Convention. If you would like the experience of meeting in a social setting, with a large group of Lutheran women, at a very reasonable cost, this is your opportunity.

Prayers of Thanksgiving

• For the gifts of medicine and science, that we would use them appropriately as gifts, according to God’s design and purpose.

Prayers of Supplication

• For penitential hearts, and the spirit of reconciliation this Lenten season.
• For the Church, and for our country and countrymen, and for all nations of the world that we would live together in harmony and peace; that God would hinder and bring to nothing the plans of those who desire to stir up violence and strife.
• For those in authority, that they would govern justly and according to God’s will and purpose.
• For the aged and infirm, as well as those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
• For all caregivers, family and friends, that the Lord would comfort them with His Love as they seek to minister to their loved ones.
