Lenten Mid-Week Compline – Wed. at 7:00PM

The province has moved into the next phase of its reopening plan (you can read it here), and we continue to gather together as we have been instructed to by our Lord.  Please continue to be mindful of the masking requirements still in effect. In Christian love for one another, we do ask that if you are sick or experiencing symptoms (or someone in your household is) that you stay home and join the service remotely, please let pastor know so he can pray for you and with you.

During Holy Communion, members of the same family “bubble” (i.e. Husband and Wife; Parents and Children) may approach (in pilgrim style, as we have been doing) and receive Holy Communion together. We look forward to the day when we can once again kneel at the Communion rail to receive the Lord’s holy and precious body and blood, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins. May Almighty God be merciful to us, and strengthen our faith.

For those unable to attend in person, who desire Holy Absolution and the Lord’s Supper, Pastor Zakel is available by appointment.

You might consider looking ahead to the propers, or readings for Sunday, March 13th, they are: Jeremiah 26:8-15, Philippians 3:17-4:1, Luke 13:31-35, and Psalm 4. The Hymn of the Day will be LSB #708 “Lord, Thee I Love with All My Heart.”

Mid-Week Lenten Services

The focus of our Mid-Week Services (each Wednesday at 7:00PM) will be set on the Small Catechism, and in particular the section on Confession and Absolution. Each week we will explore, through the scriptures, the various facets of this teaching using the theme “As Christ Our Dear Lord Dealt with Us Himself”. You are encouraged and invited to travel the Lenten Road with us as we are drawn close to our Lord through this holy gift of His.

Christian Education Hour

Join us  for Christian Education Hour, Sundays @ 9:00AM in the Sanctuary. 

“A Weather Wonder” is the theme for this coming Sunday’s lesson. With the simple command, “Peace! Be still!” (Mark 4:39), Jesus proclaims His power over a storm strong enough to shake even experienced fishermen. With the disciples, we must ask, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” (v. 41).

The Ribbons are Down

With the province’s loosening of pandemic related restrictions, we have also been able to make adjustments to our response. One of those adjustments is the removal of the ribbons, and the opening up of all the pews for members. Certainly, there will be variable levels of comfort as we transition back to normal, and we understand this. Should you have concerns please don’t hesitate to talk to one of the Elders.

Ladies Bible Study

Join us for the Ladies Bible Study on Saturday March 19th at 10:00AM.   Lois will be speaking about St. Joseph – Guardian of Jesus.  We have lots of room. Please join us for an hour downstairs. God bless, and we look forward to seeing everyone.

LCC Ukraine Aid Fund to support SELCU pastors and congregations

Seminary Food Drive

We are collecting food donations for the Seminary once again this year.  Our red bin is located in the foyer.  As most of this year’s seminary students are single they would appreciate some prepared and/or easy to prepare meals such as hamburgers, hot dogs, big cans of soup, frozen dinners, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, cheese whiz, peanut butter, crackers, bread, butter, etc. (the Seminary has a large freezer.) They thank you for all your support!

The 2022 National Youth Gathering

The NYG will be in Winnipeg from July 15-19, and registration is available until April 15, 2022. The theme is “In Not Of,” based on Philippians 3:20. If you are in grades 7 to 12 in June 2022, please plan to join us! As well, anyone who has been out of high school for a period of one year prior to the NYG is able to volunteer as an iBod. LWMLC Ontario District Convention

All the ladies of the Ontario District are invited to attend the upcoming Ontario District LWMLC Convention,  June 9th to 11th at Grace Lutheran Church in St. Catharines. We will be conducting Bible Studies, selecting Mission Projects and enjoying fellowship with each other. Due to restructuring, this will be the last Ontario District Convention. If you would like the experience of meeting in a social setting, with a large group of Lutheran women, at a very reasonable cost, this is your opportunity.

Prayers of Thanksgiving

• For the gifts of medicine and science, that we would use them appropriately as gifts, according to God’s design and purpose.

Prayers of Supplication

• For penitential hearts, and the spirit of reconciliation this Lenten season.
• For the Church, and for our country and countrymen, and for all nations of the world that we would live together in harmony and peace; that God would hinder and bring to nothing the plans of those who desire to stir up violence and strife.
• For those in authority, that they would govern justly and according to God’s will and purpose.
• For the aged and infirm, as well as those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
• For all caregivers, family and friends, that the Lord would comfort them with His Love as they seek to minister to their loved ones.
