“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
(2 Timothy 3:14–15 ESV)
Dear Friends,
Greetings in the name of Jesus, our risen Lord! He’s risen indeed!
“Confirmation is a custom of the Church and not a sacrament. … Confirmation declares of a catechumen that he or she is a Christian who has been baptized, confessed the faith, and is in communion with Christ and His Church. The reception of catechumens to the Lord’s Table assumes that ongoing catechesis (i.e. religious instruction) is the way of life for the faithful Christian. This rite of Confirmation emphasizes God’s work in Baptism and the words of His testament.” (from the LSB Agenda)
Please join me this Sunday as we gather as God’s people to witness and support the commitment of our confirmands. Their examination will be held Saturday morning at 10:00. The congregation is welcome to attend.
On Sunday at the 10:30 service they will give confession to their Christian faith in the rite of confirmation and through short essays they have composed. Let us rejoice on this their special day and give them encouragement.
The Lord be with you!
