Vacancy Pastor Rev. Robert Krestick, continues to lead us each Sunday in Bible Study and Worship Service. Rev. James Schnarr is visiting shut-ins and teaching the Confirmation Class. We appreciate and thank them for offering to help us out during this vacancy. If you should have any Pastoral needs during our vacancy, please contact one of our Elders. They will address your needs and concerns to the appropriate Pastor.
Divine Call Information – We have received correspondence from Pastor Todd Hoeffs that indicates for various reasons, he has declined our Call to him. Your church council will review the ongoing Call process and advise when a new Call meeting will be scheduled.
Ladies Guild Christmas Bazaar: We have started collecting for the Christmas Bazaar being held Saturday Nov. 16. Any new or gently used items are welcome, especially children’s books and toys. They can be left by the cupboard area in the basement. Bake sale items will be welcomed closer to the day.
Busy Bees is putting together Learning and Living Kits for Canadian Lutheran World Relief. They are looking for donations of lined notebooks, un-sharpened pencils with erasers, metric rulers, pencil sharpeners, erasers, small packets of crayons, or pencil crayons, and small simple toys that are new and don’t require batteries (dolls, teddy bears, cars, balls etc.) Donations can be left in the coatroom. Thank you
Choir Practice takes place each Wednesday from 6:45pm – 8pm. If anyone who would like to lend their voices to the choir, please let us know as new voices are always welcome! You do not need to be proficient in reading music, just love to sing.
Team Zion Team Zion is continually in need of financial support. Pastor Krestick and the team pay their own expenses. We understand that Pastor Schnarr and his wife will be joining team Zion on the next trip. You can support this mission effort by making a donation to Team Zion. Make sure your name is on the envelope. Cheques can be made out to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. All donations are eligible and will be added to your charitable tax receipts.
Men’s Street Ministry meets face-to-face with the homeless and less fortunate in downtown Hamilton. They currently have an urgent need for canned Tuna, canned vegetables, tomato sauce, chicken broth and beef broth. Donations can be left in the coatroom. .
Harvest Day at the seminary: On Oct. 19, 2019 Harvest Day will be held at the Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, St. Catharines. Member of Prince of Peace are encouraged to provide food donations for the students. Please place all donations in the red bin located at the top of the stairs at the back entrance to the church. Thank you for your generous support of the seminary students and may God continue to bless our Prince of Peace family.
Halloween Party: Our Youth are invited to Pilgrim Lutheran Church (1054 Upper Sherman Ave., Hamilton) on Friday Oct. 25 for a Halloween Party starting at 7pm, with prizes for the best Biblical costumes! Please let them know by October 20 if you are attending: plc@bellnet.ca
It’s Jello Time! – Save the date of November 15-17 for the Jello-on-a-Stick Youth Retreat at Trinity Lutheran Church (30 Erie Avenue North, Fisherville). This retreat is for youth enrolled in confirmation classes, as well as for those already confirmed (up to Grade 12). Cost $35. Youth leaders attend at no cost. Fall Cleanup: Our annual indoor/outdoor fall cleanup will be Saturday Oct. 26 beginning at 9am. Bring gardening tools and a willingness to exercise the body and the mind. Coffee will be on!
