Vacancy Pastor Rev. Robert Krestick leads us each Sunday in Bible Study and Worship Service. Rev. James Schnarr is visiting shut-ins. We appreciate and thank them for offering to help us out during this vacancy. If you should have any Pastoral needs during our vacancy please contact one of our Elders. They will address your needs and concerns to the appropriate Pastor.
Divine Call Information – The next call meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, September 22nd, following the service. Regional Pastor, Rev. Marvin Bublitz will be in attendance to lead us in worship that Sunday as well as leading the voting discussion and process. Pastor for Consideration: Members of the congregation who wish to suggest names of pastors to be considered for our Call List are asked to complete a form, available in the lobby. Give the completed form to an Elder or Chairman of the Congregation. It will be forwarded to Rev. Bublitz.
Celebrate Christian education! Let us give thanks to God for the interest and support of our Sunday School staff. We rejoice in our students, both children and adults, and pray the Lord will bless the seed of God’s Word sown, and that we might grow in grace and in numbers moving forward.
Welcome Back BBQ: Come for church and stay for lunch. We are starting off a new year of Christian learning with a Welcome Back BBQ. Join us after the 10:30 am worship service on September 8 for back bacon and corn-on-the-cob.
Choir Practice: our first practice will hopefully be on Wednesday September 11 at 6:45pm, dependent on the new organ being set up. If anyone who would like to join the choir, please let us know. As always, new voices are always welcome! You do not need to be proficient in reading music – just a love to sing.
Trustees Report – repairs to the church have been rescheduled for the week of Sept 2nd. Repairs to commence on the 3rd and should be finished by the 7th. However as this is a short week repairs may extend into the following week. There will be limited access via the front doors during the repairs.
Team Zion is continually in need of financial support. You can support their mission effort by placing your donation in an envelope marked Team Zion. Make sure your name is on the envelope. Cheques can be made out to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. All donations are eligible to be added to your charitable tax receipts.
Food4Kids Fact: 10% of school-aged children in Halton live at or below the poverty level and come to school hungry. The smallest kind, loving gesture can have a lasting impact on a child. We are collecting for Food4Kids who provide healthy food for children with limited or no access to food each weekend. An updated list of requested items includes apple sauce cups, tuna, mini boxes of raisins, boxes of oatmeal sachets, soup, baked beans, granola bars (nut free), Knorr Sidekicks pasta, Uncle Ben’s rice packets, and grocery store gift cards. God bless and a big heartfelt thank you for all your donations and your love expressed to those in need.
Men’s Street Ministry meets face-to-face with the homeless and less fortunate in downtown Hamilton, distributing soup, sandwiches, snacks, beverages and clothing to those in need, and showing God’s love to those they meet along the way. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” Matthew 25:35. Men’s Street Ministries is looking for volunteers to help serving the less fortunate on the street. They need help serving soup, snacks, sandwiches and clothing. They have openings on Mondays, Wednesdays, Friday nights and Saturday mornings. They also need sandwich makers for Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays. If interested please contact menstreetministry@gmail.com.
In your prayers, please remember those being treated for cancer, those recovering from surgery, those in hospital, those under doctors’ care, and all of our elderly and shut-in friends and family as they contend with the challenges of poor health.
